Forestry Versatility
is an annual competition where teams from all
over Europe compete in various forestry themed disciplines. The
competition is organized by the students
of the Faculty of Forestry and
Wood Technology, Mendel University in Brno, Czech Republic.
Teams
compare their skills and knowledge in working with a chainsaw,
in a
shooting, in orienteering and other. Teams or individuals can also join
the Tour de Biere and Beer pong competitions, which are
arranged
as a voluntary part of the evening programme. Compulsory
programme
of the week is, of course, the International Evening, where
you can get closer to other contestants, you can hear more about their
culture and of course
taste it!
Monday / Tuesday
Competing teams arrive during Monday,
the opening ceremony of Forestry
Versatility follows on the second day of the week
at the Mendel
University campus. After
the official invitation, the competition
starts.
First disciplines include a work
with a chainsaw in Timber
sports and one discipline at the Harvester simulator.
Wednesday
On the third day of the week, we all move
to the forest to start the
orienteering and visit certain stops and complete here various tasks,
which include the identification
of natural objects (plants, trees,
insects, birds, minerals and skulls).
Thursday 1/2
On Thursday we visit a shooting-range for other wonderful disciplines,
where participants compete in shooting with shot-guns and small-bore
rifles.
During the day you can also test your skills with a bow or a
crossbow aside the main competition.
Thursday 2/2
After we move back to our base
- the students Green club, which is the center of the whole competition
and where
the evening programme is held every day, we all prepare for
the International evening.
Friday / Saturday
On the final day, the awards ceremony is held at the beautiful chateau Křtiny, teams are rewarded with prizes and the final grand party can begin!
On Saturday morning we have to part our ways and wish
you all the best. After all, this event cannot be possible without you
and I only hope for your enthusiastic participation, for sharing your
thoughts and visions with us
and for building a strong friendship with
each other.
